Ray Parlour has suggested that Myles Lewis-Skelly agent will push for talks with Mikel Arteta this summer to clarify the teenager’s future at Arsenal.
Ray Parlour claims that Myles Lewis-Skelly agent will seek clarity from Mikel Arteta this summer, and future talks with Arsenal are expected over his limited Premier League role.
The 19-year-old Hale End graduate experienced a breakthrough 2024–25 campaign but has seen his domestic opportunities significantly reduced this season.
Lewis-Skelly made 42 appearances in all competitions last season, including 15 Premier League starts. He earned his first England cap and scored on debut against Latvia, while also making the shortlist for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
Arsenal rewarded him with a long-term contract extension, negotiated by his mother and agent, Marcia Lewis.
This season, however, his league involvement has declined. He has started just one Premier League match and made only one substitute appearance since January.
While he continues to feature in the Champions League, Riccardo Calafiori remains first-choice left-back when fit. Summer signing Piero Hincapie has also provided reliable cover.
Parlour Predicts Summer Meeting
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes discussions will take place once the season ends.
“A lot has happened in his career very quickly,” Parlour told Metro. “He got into the Arsenal team, played for England, scored for England at a very young age and suddenly he’s been left out.”
Parlour stressed the importance of maintaining focus in training.
“As a youngster, you just have to get your head down. When you get left out you have to make sure you work hard in training and show the manager what you are about.”
He added that conversations between Lewis-Skelly’s camp and Arteta are likely.
“I’m sure there will be talks. I’m sure he and his agent will go and see Arteta and ask what the future looks like.”
Parlour does not expect Arsenal to want the defender to leave permanently, but he suggested that they could discuss a temporary move.
“There might be a loan situation. Hincapie has been a brilliant signing and Calafiori is first choice. There is a lot of competition,” he said.
Fellow academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri joined Marseille on loan in January, but Lewis-Skelly stayed as Arsenal continue competing on multiple fronts.
With upcoming fixtures against Brighton and Mansfield, opportunities could still arise before the end of the campaign.
Key Decision Approaching
Arsenal’s title challenge and European ambitions require squad depth, but managing the development of homegrown players remains a priority.
Whether Lewis-Skelly earns greater involvement in the coming weeks, secures assurances about his role, or seeks a loan move will depend on those expected discussions.
