Mikel Arteta reveals Arsenal players’ demands for an early pre-season to end trophy drought

Arsenal players are ramping up efforts for an early pre-season start, determined to sharpen their skills and end their trophy drought in Arsenal’s trophy Mission.

Arsenal players are pushing for an early start to pre-season training as they strive to end their trophy drought, with Mikel Arteta revealing that his squad is eager to begin preparations ahead of schedule, believing that extra training will be crucial in Arsenal’s trophy mission to finally secure silverware.

The Gunners have endured another frustrating campaign without silverware, with their last major trophy being the FA Cup in 2020. Despite strong performances across competitions, they have fallen short in their pursuit of glory. However, Arteta insists that his players are determined to change that narrative.

“The players are demanding it,” Arteta said. “Nowadays, I think it’s impossible to have four, five, six weeks on your sun bed, putting on sun cream and just ordering drinks. Then come back six weeks later, go full gas on tour and play 65 games. It’s impossible. Now they demand from themselves to be in the best possible condition”.

Beyond footballing reasons, Arteta noted that the players enjoy spending time together during the summer, which has contributed to their desire for an early return to training. “We’re really lucky because we have boys who want to spend the summer with their families and with their teammates. So if they can pick a place to do that and we can facilitate it, they’re more than welcome to”.

Arsenal’s upcoming pre-season tour will take them to Hong Kong and Singapore in July, but before that, several squad members are already pushing for an early return to training. With the club finishing the season without a trophy once again, Arteta remains focused on ending the campaign on a high note. Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League, just two points ahead of Newcastle United, whom they host in their final home game of the season.

Their proactive preseason training strategy may be the secret to ending the Gunners’ trophy drought as they look to the upcoming campaign. Whether this extra preparation will translate into silverware remains to be seen, but one thing is clear Arsenal’s players are leaving nothing to chance.
