Tierney’s Celtic return is confirmed as Brendan Rodgers reveals the Arsenal star is eager for a summer move back to his former club.
Kieran Tierney’s Celtic return is edging closer as Brendan Rodgers confirms the Arsenal defender is eager for a summer move back to his former club. After an injury-hit spell at Arsenal, Tierney is “champing at the bit” to rejoin Celtic, where he first made his name.
Tierney, who joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 for £25 million, has had a mixed spell in North London. While he initially became a fan favorite, persistent injury struggles have hampered his progress. After an injury-hit loan spell at Real Sociedad, the Scottish international was expected to leave in January, but Arsenal blocked the move.

Now, with his contract expiring next month, Celtic are confident of securing a deal for their former captain. Rodgers, speaking to The Daily Record, acknowledged Tierney’s enthusiasm about the move:
“I haven’t spoken to him a lot of late, but I know his love of the club and excitement to come back here. So, yes, I’m sure he’s champing at the bit to get back.”
Rodgers emphasized the importance of maintaining a Scottish identity within the squad, stating that homegrown players like Tierney are pivotal to the club’s culture.
“The boys that have come through Celtic understand what this club’s about. They’ve been brought up in the values of Celtic, and they are really pivotal to the culture of this club.”
With the summer transfer window approaching, Celtic are expected to accelerate talks with Tierney to finalize his return. Fans of both clubs will be watching closely as the Scottish full-back prepares for a new chapter in his career.
