William Saliba commits to Arsenal with new contract until 2030 and vows to lead the Gunners to long-awaited silverware.
Arsenal defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners, reaffirming his commitment to the club while making it clear that his ultimate ambition is to win trophies.
The 24-year-old French centre-back has extended his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2030. Since joining from Saint-Étienne in 2019, Saliba has developed into one of the Premier League’s best defenders. Despite reported interest from Real Madrid and other European giants, he chose to remain in North London.
Explaining his decision, Saliba highlighted his bond with the fans and manager Mikel Arteta.
“I feel at home,” Saliba said. “We have a good team, a good squad, and good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be. I enjoy every day wearing this shirt. I’ll give even more to this club and the fans.”
Hungry for Trophies
Although proud of his journey from loan spells to becoming a first-team regular, Saliba admitted he is not “100% happy” yet. The reason is Arsenal’s near misses in recent seasons.
The Gunners finished as Premier League runners-up twice and reached the Champions League semi-finals, but trophies have remained out of reach.
“We almost won the league in the first season, and the season after as well. I’m happy now, but not fully, because we have to do more. We have to win titles—it’s what we want, and what the club wants,” Saliba emphasized.
