William Saliba has agreed a five-year Arsenal contract extension until 2030, giving Mikel Arteta’s side a huge boost in their defensive plans.

According to The Athletic, William Saliba has agreed to a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Arsenal until 2030. The French centre-back’s decision strengthens the Gunners’ defensive core and reinforces Mikel Arteta’s long-term vision.

Since making his competitive debut in 2022, Saliba has become a key figure in Arsenal’s backline. Following loan spells at Saint-Étienne, Nice, and Marseille, he returned to North London and quickly proved himself as one of the Premier League’s top defenders. Calm in possession, strong in the air, and tactically sharp, Saliba has been central to Arsenal’s title challenges.

Last season, he featured in all 38 Premier League matches, helping Arsenal maintain one of the league’s best defensive records. His absence during the 2022–23 run-in highlighted his importance, as the Gunners struggled without him.

Interest from Europe Shut Down

Real Madrid had reportedly been monitoring Saliba’s situation as they looked to refresh their defensive line. However, this new agreement effectively ends speculation, showing Saliba’s commitment to Arsenal’s long-term project.

The deal reflects the strategy of sporting director Andrea Berta, who has also secured contracts for Gabriel Magalhães, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly. With Saliba and Gabriel forming a solid defensive partnership, Arsenal are building a squad capable of challenging for trophies.

While the deal is yet to be officially signed, Saliba’s agreement until 2030 is a huge statement for Arsenal. At 24, with his best years still ahead, the Frenchman will remain at the heart of Arteta’s plans for years to come.
