Ex- Arsenal defender William Gallas has shares his thoughts on this season’s Premier League flops.
Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has made a surprising call on the biggest disappointments of the Premier League season. While many might have expected him to single out struggling giants like Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur, Gallas has instead pointed the finger at Arsenal, labeling them his flops of the season.
Despite Arsenal’s strong performances in the UEFA Champions League, Gallas believes their inconsistency in the Premier League has been unacceptable. The Gunners, who were tipped as serious title contenders at the start of the season, failed to keep pace with Liverpool, who ran away with the league title. Gallas expressed frustration over their inability to capitalize on the struggles of Manchester City and Chelsea, stating that Arsenal had a golden opportunity to win the league but let it slip away.

Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas did not hold back in his criticism. He acknowledged Arsenal’s impressive displays against Real Madrid in the Champions League but was deeply disappointed by their domestic form.
“I’m angry about what happened in the league. I’m furious even, because I can’t accept one level of performance in the Champions League and a different level of performance in the Premier League from this group of players,” he said.
Gallas dismissed any excuses related to injuries, insisting that a championship-winning team must maintain consistency throughout the season.
“You have to show up in every game. I’m disappointed because Arsenal didn’t do that this season, and I tipped them to win the title in August. They had a great opportunity to become champions this season, and they let it go without a fight. That’s frustrating and difficult for me to understand,” he added.
Arsenal’s Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread following a tense 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final first leg. Ousmane Dembélé’s early strike put PSG ahead, and despite Arsenal’s efforts, they couldn’t find an equalizer. Now, they must pull off something special in Paris to keep their dream alive.
While Arsenal’s fans may feel Gallas’ criticism is too harsh, his comments reflect the high expectations placed on the club. After finishing second in the last two seasons, many believed this was their year to finally lift the Premier League trophy. However, their inconsistency has left them trailing behind Liverpool, and Gallas sees this as a major failure.
With the season coming to a close, Arsenal will need to regroup and find a way to translate their European success into domestic dominance. Whether Gallas’ words serve as motivation or simply criticism remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: he expected much more from Mikel Arteta’s men.
