Viktor Gyokeres’ Uncle Makes Surprise Claim Over Arsenal and Man Utd Transfer

Arsenal and United are in suspense as Gyokeres transfer twist continues, with his uncle’s unexpected claim implying the prolific striker may remain at Sporting Lisbon.

Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres has been making waves in European football. Arsenal and Manchester United are all interested in him because of his prolific goal-scoring record at Sporting Lisbon, but Gyokeres’ transfer twist may complicate their summer plans because his uncle’s shocking statement suggests an unexpected decision to reject a move to England and stay with Sporting Lisbon for another season.

Gyokeres has been in sensational form, netting 53 goals in 51 games this season. His performances have placed him at the top of the wish lists of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim, who recently took charge at Old Trafford. Sporting Lisbon, aware of his rising stock, is reportedly open to offers, with a price tag of around £60 million set for the striker.

During Sporting Lisbon’s title celebrations, Gyokeres’ uncle, Chris Gyokeres, told Record about his admiration for the club and hinted that the family had already decided on his future.

“Yesterday at dinner, we decided that he has to stay,” he said. “We love it here—the country, the people, and Sporting. It’s incredible!”

Arsenal has been searching for a reliable striker to bolster their attack, with Gyokeres seen as a cheaper alternative to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. Meanwhile, Manchester United is eager to strengthen their frontline after a disappointing season, with Amorim keen to reunite with Gyokeres following their successful stint at Sporting.

Despite the strong interest from both clubs, Gyokeres’ uncle’s comments suggest that the striker may opt to stay in Portugal, potentially forcing Arsenal and United to explore other options in the transfer market.
