Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres has officially joined Arsenal, turning down a tempting offer from Manchester United. The €63.5 million (£54.8m) deal, with an additional €10 million in add-ons, marks a major coup for the Gunners, who have secured one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.

Gyokeres made his intentions clear in a heartfelt interview with Arsenal media, citing several compelling reasons for his decision:

A conversation with manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta left a lasting impression.

“What I heard from Mikel and Andrea… and just what I’ve seen in the past years, how they’ve been playing football,” Gyokeres said, “I just felt that it was the right club for me”.

Facing Arsenal in the Champions League last season gave Gyokeres firsthand insight into the team’s strength.

“I could really feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against,” he recalled.

The striker was drawn to Arsenal’s rich history and passionate supporters. “It’s been amazing to see all the support they have already given me before I even arrived,” he said. “That’s what it’s all about”.

Gyokeres, who will wear the iconic No.14 shirt once donned by Thierry Henry, is eager to prove himself at the Emirates.

“To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge… I can’t wait,” he said. “Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team”.

Manager Mikel Arteta expressed his excitement: “Viktor has so many qualities… a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers… His intelligent movement in the box makes him a constant threat”.

With Gyokeres now part of Arsenal’s pre-season tour in Singapore, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The striker’s decision to snub United in favor of the Gunners speaks volumes about Arsenal’s growing appeal—and their ambitions for the coming season.
