Thomas Tuchel Criticizes Arsenal star Noni Madueke for Losing Focus During England’s Win
Thomas Tuchel criticizes Noni Madueke after England’s 2–0 win over Andorra, highlighting the Arsenal winger’s lapses in concentration during key moments of the match.
England secured a comfortable win against Andorra in their recent World Cup qualifier. However, head coach Thomas Tuchel expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some players, especially Noni Madueke.
Madueke, who started in place of the injured Bukayo Saka, contributed to the opening goal with a well-placed cross. Despite this, Tuchel was quick to point out the winger’s defensive shortcomings.
“He sometimes has a lack of concentration or falls asleep in counter-pressing,” Tuchel told ITV Sport.
Tuchel’s Expectations for Madueke
Tuchel emphasized that Madueke has the potential to become a key player for England. However, he must improve his tactical awareness and consistency.
“If he pushes himself, he can be a very important player,” Tuchel added.

With Saka currently sidelined, Madueke has a golden opportunity to prove his worth. Tuchel’s comments serve as a wake-up call for the young winger to sharpen his focus and deliver more disciplined performances.
Other Players Under Scrutiny
Tuchel also criticized Eberechi Eze and Marcus Rashford for their lack of precision. Eze struggled to replicate his training form, while Rashford missed several chances to score.
“We missed the little moments to accelerate the game,” Tuchel said. “The last pass from Noni was not clinical enough.”
England will face Serbia in their next match. Tuchel hopes to see a more cohesive and focused performance from his attacking players.
