The Arsenal teenager made his mark with a memorable strike and celebration.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has praised Myles Lewis-Skelly for his bold goal celebration during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday. The young defender, who scored his first senior goal, mimicked Erling Haaland’s trademark ‘meditation pose’ celebration, sending a clear message to the City striker.
Speaking after the match, Henry expressed his admiration for Lewis-Skelly’s confidence and cheekiness. “I just love him, really. He’s one of our own,” Henry said. “I liked the goal, but I enjoyed the celebration even more!”
Henry’s comments highlight the growing rivalry between the two sides, which has been fueled by Haaland’s earlier comments to Mikel Arteta to “stay humble” and his question to Lewis-Skelly, “Who are you?” The young defender’s response was a memorable moment in an already thrilling game.

Mikel Arteta also commended Lewis-Skelly, noting his development through the academy and his ability to express himself on the pitch. “He’s very good at expressing himself which some players struggle with. He takes risks and at his age, that’s fantastic,” Arteta added.
The victory not only showcased Arsenal’s strength but also the potential of their young talents, with Ethan Nwaneri adding the fifth goal of the match. The win moves Arsenal within six points of league leaders Liverpool, keeping their title hopes alive.
