The Gunners have failed to score from open play in their last three Premier League games.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has voiced his concerns about his former club’s current playing style, suggesting that Arsenal are too focused on avoiding defeat rather than going on the offensive like Liverpool. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Henry pointed out that Arsenal’s over-reliance on players like Bukayo Saka has made their attack easy to defend against.
Henry noted that Arsenal’s last three goals in the Premier League have come from set-pieces, highlighting a lack of creativity and dynamism in their open play. He compared this to Liverpool’s approach, where the team commits players forward and creates more varied attacking opportunities.
The Frenchman emphasized that while scoring from set-pieces is valuable, it shouldn’t be the primary source of goals. “When you watch the game, when you watch Arsenal, you watch it and you’re like ‘the only way right now it looks like we might be scoring is on a set-piece’,” Henry said.
Henry doesn’t believe the issue lies solely with manager Mikel Arteta, but rather with the current setup of the team. He suggested that Arsenal needs to introduce more unpredictability in their attack to break down stubborn defenses.
