Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has voiced strong support for the Gunners ahead of a potential Champions League quarter-final showdown with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. Following Arsenal’s emphatic 7–1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Round of 16 first leg, Henry believes Mikel Arteta’s side has the quality and momentum to challenge Europe’s elite.

Henry Confident in Arsenal’s Strength

Speaking on CBS Sports, Henry said, “Yes, they can, yes, I do believe that. This is why I called it. I’m just saying now, show us that you can do that against a good team with people that are coming back.” His comments reflect growing optimism around Arsenal’s European campaign, especially with key players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli expected to return from injury.

Henry, who led Arsenal to the Champions League final in 2006, emphasized that the win over PSV was more than just a scoreline—it was a statement. “No disrespect to Eindhoven… I thought it would be difficult, especially away from home, but they made it look easy,” he added.

Madrid Challenge Looms

With Arsenal virtually guaranteed a spot in the quarter-finals, a clash with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid appears imminent. Henry acknowledged the difficulty of facing Spanish opposition but believes Arsenal’s recent form and squad depth give them a real chance.

Henry also noted that Arsenal’s shift in focus to the Champions League could work in their favor. “We all know that the [Premier] League is over… but this game can help build confidence in this competition and the one that follows—Real Madrid or Atletico.”
