Simon Jordan Backs Arsenal Wonderkid to Match Yamal’s Level

Warnock cautions Arsenal Dowman

Arsenal Wonderkid Max Dowman Tipped to Match Yamal

Respected football pundit Simon Jordan has made a bold claim about Max Dowman, one of Arsenal’s most exciting young prospects, comparing the 15-year-old wonderkid to none other than Lamine Yamal, the breakout star of both Barcelona and Spain, Jordan believes the Arsenal rising star has the quality to match Lamine Yamal’s potential.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan praised Dowman’s talent and early progress, particularly after the youngster impressed during Arsenal’s pre-season friendly against AC Milan. Dowman came off the bench and confidently slotted home a penalty during the shootout, showing maturity beyond his years.

“This is a very talented young man… if he continues on his journey, and the same things happen to him as happen to others — in terms of being nurtured and developed — he is in the talent bracket of people like Lamine Yamal,” Jordan said on The White and Jordan Show. “That’s the level he’s at. This kid is a special, special talent.”

Dowman, who only recently turned 15, has already made a name for himself at youth level. Last season, he registered 20 goals and 10 assists for Arsenal’s U18s, while also impressing with five goals in 16 appearances for England’s U17 side. His technical ability, composure, and creativity have already drawn comparisons to top-level players, and Jordan’s remarks only elevate the sense of anticipation surrounding the midfielder’s development.

Jordan also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of clubs like Arsenal nurturing talent from within, instead of relying heavily on external recruitment.

“This is the product of your academy, and this is what clubs should be doing — developing players, not just hoovering them up,” he added.

His comparison to Lamine Yamal—the 17-year-old who starred for Spain in Euro 2024 and has already become a regular for Barcelona—places Dowman in elite company. While it’s still early days, Jordan’s comments suggest Arsenal may be nurturing a generational talent.

If Max Dowman continues on this trajectory, he could very well become Arsenal’s answer to Yamal—an extraordinary talent capable of making a long-term impact on both club and country.
