Victor Osimhen, was a top target for Chelsea, before he moved to Galatasaray on loan after falling out of favor in Naples. The Blues made a final bid but did not receive a response.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal had the chance to sign the Nigerian sensation but decided against signing star striker citing the high cost as the primary reason. The Nigerian forward, who has been a standout performer for Napoli, was on the radar of several top European clubs, including Arsenal. However, the Gunners ultimately deemed the financial outlay required to secure his services as too steep.

Victor Osimhen’s transfer fee was a significant stumbling block for Arsenal. Reports indicated that Napoli’s asking price was around €130 million (£109.5 million), a figure that Arsenal’s management found prohibitive. Despite the club’s need for a prolific striker to bolster their attacking options, the financial implications of such a transfer were deemed unsustainable.

The North Londoners also declined to buy a striker, with manager Mikel Arteta depending on Kai Havertz as a false nine despite Eddie Nketiah’s transfer to Crystal Palace and Gabriel Jesus’ continued fitness issues.

However, Arsenal will target a top center-forward during the summer transfer window. The Gunners were heavily linked with the likes of Victor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko, however, remained at RB Leipzig, while Gyokeres eventually stayed at Sporting Lisbon.

According to The Times, Arteta is expected to sign a star forward in the next transfer windows after signing a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2027.
