“Martinelli is frightening when he’s on form,” Parlour said. “I’m not sure Rodrygo improves what we already have.”

He also raised concerns about the Brazilian’s hefty price tag, arguing that such an investment should guarantee a transformational player—something he’s not convinced Rodrygo offers.

“That’s a massive amount of money. For that kind of investment, you want someone who changes your team completely.”

Instead, Parlour threw his support behind Morgan Rogers, the 22-year-old Aston Villa forward who’s coming off a breakout season. With 27 goal contributions and a recent England call-up, Rogers has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young prospects.

“He’s got everything going for him—pace, confidence, versatility. And he’s only going to get better,” Parlour noted.

Morgan Rogers’ ability to play across the front line fits seamlessly with Mikel Arteta’s fluid attacking system. His Premier League experience and lower price point make him a more strategic and financially sound option.
