Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the Gunners are in a strong position in the the title race to win the Premier League but has warned the team against becoming overconfident.

City dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest and now trail Arsenal on 60 points with a game still in hand.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Parlour expressed confidence in Arsenal’s chances but insisted the title race is far from finished.

I’m confident but I don’t want to get carried away,” Parlour explained. “People are already saying Arsenal will win the league very soon, but I know from experience how difficult it can be.”

Everton Clash Could Be a Tough Test

Arsenal’s next Premier League challenge comes at home against Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

The match takes place on Saturday, March 14, during a busy period for Arteta’s squad, who also prepare for a Champions League round-of-16 clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Everton travel to North London in solid form after winning three of their last five league matches. The Toffees currently sit eighth in the table with 43 points from 29 games.

The fixture also carries an interesting personal connection for Arteta, as Everton manager David Moyes played a major role in his development during his early playing career.

Parlour believes Arsenal must treat the game with complete focus.

You can’t afford to lose concentration now,” he said. “A couple of bad results can change things quickly.”

Arsenal have received criticism in recent weeks for their pragmatic approach, particularly after their narrow win against Brighton.

However, Parlour insists that winning matches is the only thing that matters during a title race.

When you lift the trophy at the end of the season, you’re not analysing every single performance,” he explained. “You just celebrate being champions.”

The former midfielder believes Arsenal have shown maturity this season by learning how to grind out difficult results when necessary.

Looking ahead to the remaining fixtures, Parlour identified a crucial weekend in April that could influence the outcome of the title race.

On April 11, Arsenal are set to host Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium while Manchester City face a difficult away trip to Chelsea.

Parlour believes those matches could have a significant impact on the standings.

Arsenal have two important home games coming up and they’re very strong at the Emirates,” he said. “City will be travelling away, so that could become a big moment in the race.”

Arsenal Facing Defining Weeks of the Season

The Gunners are still competing on multiple fronts, with ambitions in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Managing the schedule effectively will be essential as the season approaches its decisive stage.

For Parlour, the message to the squad is clear: remain focused and avoid complacency.

If Arsenal can maintain their consistency and handle the pressure of the run-in, they could finally secure their first Premier League title since the famous “Invincibles” campaign of 2004.
