Arsenal’s Academy Manager, Per Mertesacker, has expressed his sadness over the departure of former player and coach Jack Wilshere, who has joined Championship club Norwich City as a first-team coach.
Mertesacker praised Wilshere’s development as a coach over the past two seasons, highlighting his impressive work with the Under-18s. “Jack’s development as a coach over the past two seasons has been really impressive,” Mertesacker said. “Jack has represented Arsenal in the best possible way, both as a player and in his role as an academy coach.

Wilshere, who came through the Arsenal academy and made 197 senior appearances for the club, has been a role model for younger players, demonstrating the skills required at the highest level and showing how to be the best possible person. “Of course, we are all sad to see Jack leave, but we are so proud that we have played a positive part in his development into the next stage of his career as a young coach,” Mertesacker added.

Mertesacker also extended his best wishes to Wilshere and his family as they embark on this new chapter. “We wish Jack and his family well at Norwich City, and his many friends here will be keeping in close contact with him as his journey in coaching continues,” he concluded.
