Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has praised Bukayo Saka, stating that the young winger is a “completely different player” when Martin Odegaard is fit and playing alongside him. Merson’s comments came after Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, which he described as the club’s best performance of the season.
Merson highlighted the synergy between Saka and Odegaard, noting how their partnership on the right flank has been instrumental in Arsenal’s recent success. “When Odegaard plays and they both play down that right, the way they interact and they’re both singing off the same hymn sheet… phenomenal,” Merson said.
Saka’s performance against Nottingham Forest was a testament to Merson’s observations. The England international scored the opening goal with a brilliant solo effort, showcasing his ability to cut inside and finish with precision. His goal was a result of the excellent link-up play with Odegaard, who provided the assist.
Merson believes that Odegaard’s return from injury has been a game-changer for Arsenal, and his presence on the field has elevated Saka’s game to new heights. “Saka is a completely different player when he’s playing with Odegaard,” Merson added.
