Paul Merson makes Arsenal title prediction after the Chelsea draw as pundit insists the Gunners will “easily” win the Premier League.
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has delivered a bold verdict with a strong title prediction, insisting Arsenal will “easily” win the Premier League even after their 1–1 draw with Chelsea. The Gunners stayed top of the table and extended their unbeaten run, reinforcing why many see them as favourites.
Merson’s comments came after a tense London derby in west London. Chelsea began brightly but were reduced to ten men shortly before half-time when Moisés Caicedo was sent off. Even so, the hosts struck first after the break through Trevoh Chalobah’s header — only the seventh goal Arsenal have conceded all season.
Arsenal found a response shortly after. Mikel Merino rose highest in the box to level, ensuring the league leaders left with a point and preserved their momentum in the title race.
Merson told Sportskeeda after the match that the stalemate had no effect on his opinion of the campaign.
He predicted Chelsea would finish above Manchester City under Enzo Maresca but maintained that Arsenal remain the division’s strongest side. “They’ll win the league easily,” he said, pointing to the club’s defensive record and the growing influence of their midfield depth.
A Champion’s Mentality on Display
Merson added that refusing to lose at Stamford Bridge, even when not at their best, was evidence of a champion’s mentality. He argued the resilience shown in difficult moments is what separates Arsenal from their rivals.

Arsenal continue to lead the Premier League and have looked the more consistent of the contenders. Chelsea’s improvement under Maresca has been clear, while Manchester City have dropped points in key fixtures, but neither has matched Arsenal’s control or defensive stability.
Merson’s confidence reflects a growing feeling within the game that Arsenal are not only contenders but the team to beat.
If Arteta’s side maintain their form through the winter schedule, the Premier League trophy could return to north London for the first time since 2004.
