Paul Merson claims Arsenal can secure 10-point advantage over Liverpool next season with one signing

Can Arsenal’s pursuit of Alexander Isak transform their Premier League fortunes and leave Liverpool trailing behind?”

Ex-Arsenal star and football pundit Paul Merson believes Arsenal can win the Premier League by ten points next season if they sign Newcastle United’s prolific striker, Alexander Isak. Merson’s comments come at a time when Arsenal has consistently fallen short in their quest for Premier League glory, finishing as runners-up for three consecutive seasons.

Despite their strong performances under manager Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have struggled to bridge the gap to the league champions. Merson believes that Isak could be the transformative signing Arsenal needs to finally claim the coveted trophy.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson highlighted Isak’s potential impact on Arsenal’s squad: “Alexander Isak is expected to attract interest from a few clubs this summer. I think Isak surely wants to be involved in the Champions League next season, and that could play a key role here. Arsenal seem like the best possible move for him if he leaves Newcastle though. If the Gunners get him, they will win the league by 10 points.”

Isak, who has been a standout performer for Newcastle, boasts an impressive record of 26 goals across all competitions this season. His ability to deliver moments of brilliance in tight games has earned him praise from football experts and fans alike. Merson believes Isak’s lethal finishing and creative flair could be Arsenal’s missing piece in the title race.

However, the potential transfer is not without its challenges. Newcastle United is likely to demand a hefty fee for their star striker, with valuations exceeding £100 million. Additionally, Newcastle’s own ambitions to qualify for the Champions League next season could make it difficult for Arsenal to lure Isak away.

Despite these hurdles, Merson remains optimistic about Arsenal’s prospects. He claims that Arsenal’s Champions League status and reputation as a top-tier club make them an appealing destination for Isak. Merson thinks Arsenal will close the gap and give their rivals a significant lead if they can finalize the signing.
