Newcastle United’s chief executive, Darren Eales, has issued a transfer warning to Arsenal and Liverpool regarding their star striker Alexander Isak.
Newcastle United’s chief executive, Darren Eales, has issued a stern warning to Arsenal and other top clubs over their interest in star striker Alexander Isak. The Swedish international, who has been in scintillating form this season, has attracted attention from several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
Eales made it clear that Newcastle United has no intention of selling Isak, who has been a pivotal figure for the Magpies. “The reality is that all of our players are under long-term deals,” Eales stated. “They’re committed to the club. So, from that perspective, we’re not looking to move any player on. We’ve got that wish and desire to keep our key players [and] we’re not under the gun [to sell] or anything like that. We’ve got an ownership that is ambitious [and] wants the best for the club. So from that perspective, it’d be crazy for us to consider it”.
Isak, who has scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 24 Premier League games this season, is under contract with Newcastle until the summer of 2028. Eales emphasized that the club is in a strong financial position and is not under any pressure to sell its key players. “We’re in a position now where because of the fact we were able to move a couple of players in January [2025] that weren’t really impacting on minutes on the pitch, we’ve got that wish and desire to keep our key players,” Eales said.
The Newcastle chief executive also expressed his frustration over the constant speculation linking Isak with a move away from St James’ Park. “It is part and parcel of the world we live in, but it is frustrating. It is part of what football is, everybody wants to have a story [transfer speculation] and talk about it but when you think about the growth of Newcastle we have the ambition to be a top club,” Eales remarked.
Eales revealed that Newcastle is set to reopen contract talks with Isak to further secure his future at the club. “We’re going to be clear – he has multiple years left [on his current deal. So like all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal just like we did with Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon. That’s something that we will approach in the summer,” Eales added.
