Timo Werner opened the scoring for Spurs in the fifth minute, capitalizing on a quick counter-attack. Pape Matar Sarr doubled the lead with a stunning long-range strike in the 25th minute Despite a late goal from Matheus Nunes just before half-time, City couldn’t find an equalizer in the second half.
The match wasn’t without its setbacks for Tottenham, as Micky van de Ven was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury early in the game. However, Spurs managed to maintain their momentum and secure the win

Adding to their woes, Manchester City also suffered another injury during the match. Savinho, who had been a bright spark for City in the first half, was stretchered off in the second half, further depleting their squad.

This defeat marks a significant blow to City’s ambitions in the Carabao Cup, and with injuries mounting, Pep Guardiola will be looking to regroup and refocus his team for the upcoming Premier League fixtures.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will be buoyed by this victory as they advance to the quarter-finals and continue their pursuit of silverware this season.
