Former Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny joins Al Jazira. The 32-year-old was one of the senior players released by the Gunners this summer, having played an increasingly limited role under Mikel Arteta. Despite being popular with fans and teammates, Elneny needed a fresh start to make a more regular impact on the pitch.

Elneny has signed for UAE side Al Jazira on a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal ended. Al Jazira competes in the UAE Pro League, finishing mid-table in eighth place during the 2023/24 season. Elneny would be paring with Karim Rekik, the older brother of Arsenal defender Omar, who joined Al Jazira in 2023.

The midfielder will be hoping that Al Jazira would offer him with the opportunity to return to Egypt’s national squad. Elneny’s expertise and work ethic might make him a valuable asset to his new team.
