This season has been tough for the Premier League titleholders, but they continue to be a major force.
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino, has issued a stern warning to his teammates about underestimating Manchester City ahead of their upcoming clash at the Emirates Stadium. Despite City’s struggles this season, Merino emphasized that they remain a formidable opponent.
“Manchester City might not be at the top of the table right now, but they’re still a team full of quality players and a top manager in Pep Guardiola,” Merino said. “We can’t afford to take them lightly. They’re capable of turning things around at any moment.”
City has indeed faced challenges this season, currently sitting six points behind Arsenal and 12 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool. Their performances in Europe have also been less than stellar. However, Merino believes that these struggles make them even more dangerous.
“Sometimes, when a team is under pressure, they come out fighting harder,” Merino added. “We need to be prepared for a tough battle and not let their current form deceive us.”
Arsenal will need to be at their best to secure a victory against a team that, despite its current form, has the potential to cause an upset. Merino’s warning serves as a reminder that complacency has no place in football, especially against a side with the pedigree of Manchester City.
