The availability of important players such like Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori has become a major concern for Arsenal as they get ready for the much awaited North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, has provided updates on their conditions, which are crucial for the team’s strategy and morale.

Summer signing Mikel Merino suffered a significant shoulder injury during his first training session and would be out until late October.

Following Odegaard and Calafiori’s setbacks on international duty, Arteta’s choices appeared to be further limited.

But when asked about their availability before Sunday’s big match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Arteta responded, “We need some more tests so let us see what happens in the next day or so, probably this afternoon, and see what happens with the extent of the injury and how quickly we can get him back.”

Martin Odegaard suffered an ankle injury while on international duty with Norway. The injury occurred during a Nations League match against Austria, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming derby. Odegaard’s role in the team is pivotal; his vision, creativity, and leadership are essential to Arsenal’s gameplay.

Mikel Arteta has not ruled out Odegaard’s participation in the derby, despite the severity of the injury. Arteta mentioned that further tests are needed to determine the full extent of the injury and how quickly Odegaard can return to action. The Arsenal manager emphasized Odegaard’s positive attitude and strong desire to be available for every game, highlighting his commitment and resilience.

Riccardo Calafiori, a recent addition to the Arsenal squad, also sustained an injury while representing his national team. Calafiori, who has yet to make his first start for Arsenal since his transfer from Bologna, picked up a calf injury. This setback has delayed his integration into the team and his opportunity to showcase his talents in the Premier League.

Arteta’s update on Calafiori was similarly cautious. He indicated that the club’s medical staff would need a day or so to assess the injury fully and determine the appropriate course of action. The uncertainty surrounding Calafiori’s availability complicates Arsenal’s situation, especially because other crucial players such as Declan Rice and Mikel Merino are also out due to injuries and suspensions.
