Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he will hold discussions with Thomas Partey regarding his future at the club, as the midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Arteta’s comments come as Partey continues to play a crucial role in the team, having started every Premier League and Champions League game this season.
Partey, who joined Arsenal in 2020 for £45 million, has been a key player for the Gunners, providing defensive solidity and versatility in midfield. Despite facing injury challenges last season, Partey has made a strong start to the current campaign, playing more minutes already than he did in the entirety of last season.
Arteta praised Partey’s performances, stating, “He’s working so hard to do what he’s doing at the moment, and I think he’s playing really well in different positions with different demands and he’s coping with it in a great way. He’s a big player for us. He’s only 31 and he’s in a really good place and yes, we’ll have discussions.”
The discussions will be crucial for both parties as they look to secure Partey’s long-term future at the club. With his contract expiring next summer, Arsenal will be keen to avoid losing him on a free transfer, especially given his importance to the team.
