Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he will engage in contract renewal discussions with the club once the window closes. Arteta, whose current contract expires at the end of the season, has been instrumental in transforming the Gunners and is expected to agree to fresh terms.
Arteta emphasized that the primary focus has been on the transfer window, which has been particularly busy for Arsenal. “The focus has been on the transfer window. We had quite a lot of things to do and discuss. We are on it and we will take care of that in the right moment,” Arteta told reporter.
When asked about the timing of the contract talks, Arteta confirmed they would take place after the transfer window shuts. He expressed his gratitude for the support and trust he has received from the club’s hierarchy. “I am very grateful first of all for where I’m sitting and the people I work with every single day because it’s really difficult to find that harmony, trust, belief and alignment in the vision,” Arteta said. He also conveyed his excitement about the future, highlighting the positive environment at the club.
Arsenal has been active in the transfer market, with several key signings and potential deals on the horizon. The club has already secured Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori and has agreed a deal to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino. Arteta also refused to comment about specific targets but acknowledged the need to be prepared for any last-minute opportunities. “You have to be ready and especially in the last week [of the transfer window]. You have to be alert and prepared because a lot of surprises can come, for many different reasons and we are prepared,” he said.
