Arteta has praised his players for their ability to overcome numerous obstacles, including an extensive injury list and disciplinary issues. Arsenal has faced five red cards in 26 league games, a statistic that would typically see a team languishing in mid-table. However, the Gunners have defied the odds and currently sit in second place, 11 points behind Liverpool.

The Arsenal boss has highlighted the team’s resilience and ambition as key factors in their success. “I think we have made big strides this season – big time,” Arteta said. “Because we should be in a very different position with everything that has happened. There’s no team in Premier League history with five red cards and the amount of injuries we’ve had that were in the position that we are in today. [It] hasn’t been done”.

Arteta’s pride in his team’s achievements is evident as he reflects on their journey. “It’s one of the proudest moments, because this could have gone…,” he began, gesturing towards the floor and mimicking an explosion. “I think we have made big strides this season. Big time. Because we should be in a very different position with everything that has happened”

Despite the challenges, Arteta remains focused on the future and the team’s objectives. “We are here to win, that’s it, and to win the next game, and to win the previous 15 and the next 15, and to win the Champions League if we can. That’s the objective. That’s clear”.

Arteta’s defiance in the face of adversity and his unwavering belief in his team’s potential have been a driving force behind Arsenal’s impressive season. As the Gunners continue to push for success, their manager’s pride and determination will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their journey.
