Arsenal narrowed the gap with Liverpool to four points at the top of Premier League. Now, manager Mikel Arteta seeks reinforcements to bolster their title challenge.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club is “actively looking” to sign a striker this month following the long-term injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. Arteta emphasized the urgency of bolstering the squad to maintain their title challenge.

When asked on TNT Sports by Rio Ferdinand if Arsenal would try to buy a striker in January, the Gunners boss said:  ‘Yes for sure because we lost two big players – Bukayo could be out for three months and Gabby is going to be out for a long time too.

Gabriel Jesus is set to undergo surgery for an ACL injury, while Saka is expected to be out for at least three months due to a hamstring injury. The absence of these key players has left a significant gap in Arsenal’s attacking options, prompting Arteta to seek immediate solutions.

“We have very clear ideas of the players we want,” Arteta added. “We are exploring opportunities and making calls to clubs about top-level strikers in European football.”

The Gunners are reportedly considering several targets, including Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Arsenal is also rumored to be interested in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, although the Magpies are reportedly demanding a hefty fee.

Arteta acknowledged the challenge of fitting any transfer deals into a busy schedule but stressed the importance of strengthening the squad. “We have 14 players in the squad, and we play every three days,” he said. “We will try and see what we can get.”
