Mikel Arteta was pleased with the manner in which his team controlled a hard-fought game against Ipswich, as Arsenal earned a 1-0 win to move up to second in the Premier League.
Arsenal managed a narrow 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town, with Mikel Arteta’s side showing resilience despite missing key player Bukayo Saka due to injury. The win, although not as dominant as expected, was crucial for Arsenal’s position in the Premier League.
Arteta, in his post-match interview, acknowledged the team’s performance, saying, “It was what it was.” He praised his players for their effort, especially in the first half where they were “super dominant” and created several chances. However, he admitted that the second half was more challenging as Ipswich proved to be tough to break down.
Reflecting on the match, Arteta highlighted the importance of the win given the circumstances, including injuries and red cards throughout the season. “Considering all the circumstances we had this season, the amount of times we had to play with 10 men, all the injuries that we had, it’s good to be in the position that we are but it’s not where we want to be. We want to be first,” he said.
Despite the victory, Arteta emphasized that there is still room for improvement and that the team needs to be more clinical in front of goal. “We had moments in the second half. It is a unit that is new and will take time for players to understand fully.”
The win keeps Arsenal in the title race, but Arteta knows that to achieve their goals, they need to be more consistent and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way.
