Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach, has provided an update on the fitness of three key players ahead of the club’s upcoming match against Chelsea. The updates come amid concerns over the availability of Declan Rice, who is a major doubt for the game.

Declan Rice:

Declan Rice sustained a foot injury during Arsenal’s recent match against Newcastle. He missed the Champions League game against Inter Milan and has not trained yet. Arteta admitted that there is no clarity on Rice’s availability for the Chelsea match.

Kai Havertz:

Havertz suffered a head injury during the Champions League match and was substituted. Arteta mentioned that they will have to wait and see how Havertz reacts.

Mikel Merino:

Merino also had a head injury in the same match and was substituted at half-time. Arteta confirmed that Merino should be fine for the Chelsea match.

Despite these injury concerns, Arteta remains optimistic about the squad’s overall fitness. He mentioned that everyone in the squad will be fit and available to start the game, but decisions on specific players will be made closer to match time.

The match against Chelsea is crucial for Arsenal as they aim to bounce back from recent setbacks and climb up the Premier League table.
