Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta Provides Update on Gabriel Magalhaes’ Injury as Arsenal Prepare to Face West Ham in the Latest Premier League Fixture.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on the fitness of Gabriel Magalhaes ahead of the Gunners’ crucial Premier League clash with West Ham United this weekend. Gabriel, who has been a consistent presence for Arsenal this season, was forced off early in the team’s recent Champions League victory over Sporting CP due to discomfort.
During Arsenal’s dominant 5-1 win over Sporting CP, Gabriel scored a goal but was substituted in the 84th minute after reporting some discomfort. Arteta confirmed that the substitution was due to a potential injury rather than a tactical decision. The Brazilian has been a regular starter in both the Premier League and Champions League this season, making his potential absence a significant concern for the team.
Arteta remained coy about providing too many details regarding Gabriel’s fitness. “We don’t know yet,” Arteta said. “We had to make the change because he was feeling some discomfort. We have another training session, and we will see how the boys are. A few weren’t able to train yesterday, but hopefully, they will be okay today. We will have to wait and see.”
With Gabriel’s availability in doubt, Jakub Kiwior is the leading candidate to step in if Gabriel is unable to play. Both Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White are sidelined with knee injuries, adding to Arsenal’s defensive concerns. However, there is some positive news as Kieran Tierney could be set to join his first Premier League matchday squad of the season after making a comeback from injury in Lisbon.
