Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided updates on the fitness of several key players ahead of the team’s Premier League clash against Southamton. In his pre-match press conference, Arteta discussed the conditions of Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Martin Odegaard.

Arteta confirmed that both Timber and White are close to returning to full training. Timber was substituted at halftime during Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain due to a slight muscular. White, on the other hand, has been sidelined with a groin injury for the past three games. Arteta mentioned that decisions on their involvement in the upcoming match will be made later in the day.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has been recovering from a knee injury, is also making good progress. Arteta stated that Tomiyasu is close to being involved in the match, which is positive news for the team.

Regarding Oleksandr Zinchenko and Martin Odegaard, Arteta provided a more cautious outlook. Zinchenko is expected to return after the international break if everything goes well. Odegaard’s recovery, however, is proving to be more challenging. Arteta mentioned that Odegaard is working hard and pushing through his rehabilitation, but it’s still difficult to predict his exact return date.

“We had to modify training for a lot of players,” Arteta explained. “It was the same today. There will be a decision to make this afternoon, yes or no. They are close, and Tomiyasu is too. He added, “Alex [Zinchenko] probably after the international break. Martin is very difficult. I expected still with the boot and a lot of things but he’s working so hard and he’s pushing.

As Arsenal prepares for their match against Southampton, the team will be closely monitoring the fitness of Timber, White, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, and Odegaard “. The medical team will continue to work diligently to ensure the players’ recoveries are swift and complete.

Arteta’s updates provide a mix of optimism and caution, reflecting the challenges of managing a squad through a demanding season. Arsenal fans will be hoping for positive news in the coming days as the team aims to maintain their strong start to the season.
