Mikel Arteta title race admission highlights Liverpool’s dominance after Alexander Isak signing shifts Premier League balance.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made a significant title race admission following Liverpool’s high-profile signing of Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker joined Liverpool from Newcastle United in a record-breaking £125 million deal, instantly shifting the dynamics of the Premier League title race.

Liverpool’s transfer strategy this season has been aggressive. Alongside Isak, they also signed German playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. These two additions, part of a £400 million summer spree, have positioned Liverpool as clear title favorites.

Arteta’s Honest Reaction

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Nottingham Forest, Arteta didn’t shy away from the implications of Liverpool’s aggressive recruitment. “They are the strongest for sure,” he said. “They have recruited probably the two most decisive players that there were in Europe in the market. And they’ve done really well to recruit that”.

Arteta emphasized that Arsenal must focus on improving themselves rather than comparing with rivals. “We need to look at ourselves and what we need to do in terms of our abilities to be better than them,” he added.

Title Race Outlook

Liverpool have won all three of their opening matches this season, including a narrow 1-0 victory over Arsenal. Arteta reflected on that game, saying it was decided by “a magic moment” and suggested that most similar matches would end in draws.

Manchester City, meanwhile, remain in the mix. Pep Guardiola also weighed in on Isak signing, stating that while Isak is clearly a top player, Erling Haaland remains ”a bit above” in his view.

As Arsenal prepares to face Nottingham Forest, they’ll be without Bukayo Saka, who is sidelined due to injury. However, William Saliba may return to the lineup. Arteta also praised Forest’s new manager Ange Postecoglou, calling him “a joy to watch.” and welcoming his return to the Premier League.
