The Arsenal manager was full of praise for Ethan Nwaneri after he became the club’s second youngest goal scorer in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri after the 17-year-old became the club’s second-youngest Premier League goalscorer in their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. This goal not only marked a significant milestone for Nwaneri but also highlighted his potential as a future star for Arsenal.
Arteta, speaking to the media after the match, expressed his admiration for Nwaneri’s bravery and composure, saying, “He is the second youngest [Premier League goalscorer] in our history. That’s a story in itself. He’s brave. You see the reaction of fans and they were singing ‘he’s one of our own.’ I think we have to put brick by brick and make sure the cement doesn’t get dry. Hopefully we can build a beautiful thing with him.”
Nwaneri’s goal, a calm finish from Raheem Sterling’s cutback, capped off a sensational breakout campaign for the young midfielder. He has now scored four goals in all competitions this season, including three in the EFL Cup and one for the England under-19 side.
Arteta emphasized the need to nurture Nwaneri carefully, comparing the process to building a structure brick by brick to ensure a strong foundation. The manager believes that with proper guidance and patience, Nwaneri has the potential to become a significant player for Arsenal in the future.
