Mikel Arteta has shut down speculation surrounding the Saliba Transfer Saga, reaffirming Arsenal’s commitment to keeping their star defender despite Real Madrid’s interest.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has responded firmly to speculation surrounding William Saliba transfer saga, following reports linking the French defender with a move to Real Madrid. According to Spanish media, the La Liga giants have identified Saliba as their top defensive target for the upcoming summer transfer window, with an initial approach already made.
Despite the interest from Madrid, Arteta remains confident that Saliba is committed to Arsenal. Speaking to the press, Arteta emphasized that the 24-year-old is “so happy” at the club and has expressed his desire to continue playing for the Gunners. Arsenal, in turn, are keen to secure Saliba’s long-term future, as he will enter the final two years of his contract at the end of the season.

Arteta acknowledged that transfer negotiations are a complex process but reassured fans that discussions regarding Saliba’s future are ongoing. “Those kinds of things are more for Andrea [Berta] and the club to talk about,” Arteta stated. “What I’m certain of, because I had the conversation with him, is that he is so happy here, that he wants to continue with us”.
The Arsenal boss also took the opportunity to comment on Liverpool’s Premier League title success this season, describing their triumph as “deserved” and praising their consistency over the years. However, his primary focus remains on ensuring Arsenal retains its key players, with Saliba being a crucial part of the club’s defensive setup.
