Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0, thanks to a spectacular header from Gabriel Magalhaes. Arsenal’s triumph keeps them close to Manchester City in the Premier League title battle.
The game was heated from the start, with both teams demonstrating their intentions early on. Tottenham got off to a solid start, bolstered by home support. Arsenal goalie David Raya was forced into action twice in the first eight minutes, stopping Dejan Kulusevski and turning an odd cross around the post.
Arsenal, however, began to find their rhythm. Kai Havertz came close to breaking the deadlock with a powerful header, only to be denied by a fine save from Tottenham’s goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario. Gabriel Martinelli also had a chance but couldn’t find the net.
The breakthrough came in the 64th minute. A swift counter-attack led to a corner, which Bukayo Saka delivered perfectly into the six-yard box. Gabriel Magalhaes leaped above the Spurs defence to score, sending Arsenal supporters into ecstasy.
Arsenal’s defence, led by Gabriel and William Saliba, stood firm in the face of constant pressure from Tottenham.
Arsenal’s midfield trio of Jorginho, Thomas Partey, and Kai Havertz controlled the tempo, effectively neutralizing Tottenham’s attacks. The Gunners’ ability to transition quickly from defense to attack was key, with Saka and Martinelli providing width and pace.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s resilience and tactical discipline. “It was a tough game, but the boys showed great character. Gabriel’s goal was a result of our hard work on set-pieces,” he said.
This victory marks Arsenal’s third consecutive win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a feat not achieved since 1988. The Gunners remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season, while Tottenham faces a challenging start to their campaign.
