Arsenal have been dealt a significant injury blow as Bukayo Saka faces a period of absence with a hamstring injury.
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has recently suggested that the Gunners already have the perfect solution within their ranks to address Bukayo Saka’s injury concerns. Saka, who has been a standout performer this season, picked up a worrying hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace. The injury is expected to keep him out for several weeks, leaving a significant void in the team.
Keown believes that 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri could be the ideal replacement for Saka. Nwaneri, who has already broken into Arsenal’s first team at such a young age, usually plays as a number 10 but has the versatility to play out wide. Keown praised Nwaneri’s skills, noting his excellent ball control, dribbling ability, and acceleration, which could help him get past opponents with ease.
“I don’t know of a player that has created more chances for his colleagues in the Premier League this season, so he’s obviously going to be a really big miss. It’s up to someone to step up, maybe Ethan Nwaneri, who has been playing in the Martin Odegaard role, maybe he could come into the front line and give us something different.” Keown told talkSPORT.
Nwaneri has shown promise in his limited appearances this season, scoring once in the Premier League and netting three goals in the EFL Cup. While it won’t be easy to fill Saka’s shoes, Keown is confident that Nwaneri, with the support of players like Martin Odegaard, can step up and offer something different to the team.
