Chloe Kelly’s move to Arsenal is nearing completion after Manchester City accepted their loan bid, but Manchester United remain interested.
Manchester City have accepted a loan offer from Arsenal for forward Chloe Kelly, but the move has not yet been finalised. The deal, agreed upon just hours before the Women’s Super League (WSL) January transfer deadline, is still pending completion, report The Athletic.
Kelly, who has struggled to secure regular first-team football at City this season, made an emotional plea on social media earlier this week, expressing her desire to leave the club in search of more playing time. Despite turning down a move to Brighton, Kelly’s preference to stay in Manchester due to family reasons, she has now agreed to join Arsenal on loan until the end of the season.
However, the transfer is still in the works, with both clubs working to finalise the details. Arsenal’s interest in Kelly is driven by their need for attacking options, while Kelly herself is keen to get regular game time ahead of the Euros this summer.
Manchester United had also shown interest in signing Kelly, but City were reluctant to let her join their local rivals. Kelly’s contract with City expires this summer, adding urgency to her desire for a move.
Kelly’s potential arrival at Arsenal could provide a much-needed boost to the Gunners’ attacking lineup, while giving Kelly the opportunity to shine on the big stage.
