Man United Told to Beat Arsenal to Premier League Star

Arteta bench Odegaard Chelsea

Man United told to hijack Arsenal’s £95m transfer for Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon after stunning Champions League form.

Man United urged to swoop in and hijack Arsenal’s reported transfer pursuit of Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with the England international described as “one of the best players in the Premier League.”

Arsenal reportedly monitor the 25-year-old ahead of the summer window, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking depth. But former players and pundits now believe Old Trafford may be the more logical destination.

Domestically, Gordon’s Premier League numbers have been modest, with three goals in 22 appearances for Newcastle United under Eddie Howe.

However, it is in Europe where he has truly exploded. The winger has been electric in the Champions League, scoring 10 goals in 10 matches — including a four-goal display in the play-off round against Qarabag.

That contrast has only intensified transfer interest. Gordon’s pace, direct running, and relentless work rate make him one of the most dangerous wide players operating in England right now.

Reports suggest Newcastle value Gordon at around £95 million — a figure that would test Arsenal’s resolve.

Former Arsenal winger Anders Limpar praised the forward’s qualities but questioned whether the Gunners would commit to such a fee. With Gabriel Martinelli already established on the left and Eberechi Eze recently added to Arteta’s attacking options, competition for minutes could become fierce at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s recruitment strategy has been ambitious in recent seasons, yet a near-£100m outlay for another wide player may depend on outgoings.

Glen Johnson: United Should Make Their Move

Former England defender Glen Johnson has gone further — openly encouraging Manchester United to hijack the deal.

United have shown signs of revival under interim boss Michael Carrick, and Johnson believes Gordon would fit naturally into the current setup at Old Trafford. Speaking on Bettingsidor, He argued that Arsenal already possess several similar profiles, whereas United could offer clearer opportunities for consistent game time.

The irony, of course, is Gordon’s well-documented Liverpool allegiance — making a switch to Manchester United a potentially controversial one.

At 25, Gordon is entering his prime years. He is Premier League-proven, internationally recognised, and tactically versatile.

United’s wide options have lacked consistency this season, and a dynamic forward capable of stretching defences and pressing aggressively could transform their attacking balance. For Arsenal, Gordon would represent depth and long-term security. For United, he could be a centrepiece. That distinction may ultimately prove decisive.

Newcastle and Gordon Respond to Speculation

Despite growing noise, Gordon has dismissed recent transfer rumours as “a load of rubbish,” insisting his focus remains on Newcastle.

Howe has echoed that stance, publicly downplaying speculation and reiterating the club’s desire to retain their key assets. Whether Arsenal firm up their interest — or United decide to act on Johnson’s advice — remains to be seen.

But with a £95m valuation and elite European form behind him, Anthony Gordon has firmly positioned himself as one of the Premier League’s most intriguing summer storylines.
