Leverkusen Clarifies Piero Hincapie Transfer Stance Amid Arsenal Delay

Piero Hincapie transfer

Bayer Leverkusen has made its position clear regarding defender Piero Hincapie transfer, as Arsenal hesitates to finalize a move.

Arsenal has shown strong interest in transfer signing of Ecuadorian international Piero Hincapie. The Premier League club has reportedly agreed on personal terms with the player. However, negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen have stalled due to financial disagreements.

Leverkusen’s Official Statement

Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, confirmed that no formal offer has been received. He told German outlet Sport.de:
β€œWe still haven’t received an official offer from any club, so he’s our player. That’s the status quo.”

The Bundesliga side values Hincapie at €60 million (Β£52 million) and is unwilling to accept a lower fee or a loan arrangement.

Hincapie is a versatile defender who can play as a centre-back or left-back. His aggressive style and tactical flexibility make him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s evolving defensive setup. Arsenal is considering a shift to a three-man backline, and Hincapie could be key to that transition.

Arsenal is exploring ways to fund the move, including the potential sale of Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto. The Gunners prefer a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but Leverkusen insists on a direct sale.

Hincapie’s Position

Sources close to the player suggest that Hincapie is eager to join Arsenal. He has reportedly asked Leverkusen to lower their asking price to around €45 million (Β£39 million). Despite his interest, the German club remains firm.

With the transfer window closing on September 1, Arsenal must act quickly. Leverkusen has made it clear:
No discount, no deal.

Leverkusen makes stance clear on Piero Hincapie: no deal unless Arsenal pays full price, with deadline day fast approaching.
