Kristoffer Olsson has parted ways with Danish club FC Midtjylland after battling back from a rare and life-threatening brain condition. The former Arsenal midfielder terminated his contract by mutual agreement, hoping to resume his football career with a fresh start in Sweden.
In February 2024, Olsson collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital. He required immediate medical intervention, including the use of a respirator to support his breathing.
Over the past year, Olsson has faced intense physical and mental challenges. Despite the severity of his condition, he showed remarkable resilience throughout his recovery.
Return to IFK Norrkoping
Olssonβs decision to leave Midtjylland paves the way for a return to his boyhood club, IFK Norrkoping. Consequently, the move brings him closer to his family and offers a supportive environment to continue his rehabilitation and pursue his dream of returning to professional football.
Olsson joined Arsenalβs academy in 2011 and made a memorable first-team appearance in a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion in 2013. Although his time in North London was brief, he went on to build a solid career across Europe, playing for Anderlecht, Krasnodar, AIK, and Midtjylland. He has also earned 47 caps for the Swedish national team.

Midtjylland Praises Olssonβs Courage
FC Midtjyllandβs deputy football director, Kristian Bach Bak, praised Olssonβs strength and character:
