Joe Cole advises Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to reject Arsenal’s transfer interest and join West Ham in January instead.
Former West Ham star Joe Cole has urged Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to reject transfer interest from Arsenal and instead join his old club, West Ham, in January. Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, Cole emphasized that Ferguson would benefit more from joining West Ham, where he would get regular playing time.
Brighton has made the £60m-rated striker available on loan this month, and Arsenal is reportedly considering a move for the Republic of Ireland international. However, Cole believes Ferguson should turn down any approach from the Gunners and opt for West Ham instead.
Cole highlighted Ferguson’s need for game time, especially given his limited opportunities at Brighton. “You’re not going to get into the Brighton team. You’re going to take a step up and play, you need games, you’re a young kid you need games, come and play for West Ham,” Cole advised.
West Ham is in desperate need of a striker following Niclas Fullkrug’s injury, and Ferguson’s potential arrival could provide a much-needed boost to the team. Cole’s advice is rooted in his belief that Ferguson would have a better chance of developing his career at West Ham, where he would be guaranteed more playing time.
Ferguson, who has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 79 games for Brighton, is eager to secure more minutes on the pitch. Joining West Ham could offer him the opportunity to play regularly and continue his development as a player.
