Jamie Carragher has dismissed the idea that Arsenal striker transfer priority should dominate their summer plans, urging the club to focus on midfield creativity instead.

He argued that the Gunners should shift their attention to strengthening their midfield rather than chasing high-profile forwards.

Arsenal Linked with Big-Name Strikers

Arsenal continues to attract speculation around potential striker signings, with names like Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins frequently mentioned. Despite this interest, Carragher believes the club’s real issue lies in their lack of creativity behind the front line.

Carragher defended current striker Kai Havertz, acknowledging that while he may not be a traditional goal machine, he contributes significantly to Arsenal’s overall play. He warned that finding a striker who matches Havertz’s versatility and work rate would be extremely difficult.

Premier League Striker Struggles

Carragher pointed to the Premier League’s shortage of elite strikers, citing Darwin Núñez, Nicolas Jackson, and Rasmus Højlund as examples of talented forwards who have failed to meet expectations. He argued that Arsenal should avoid similar risks and instead invest in creative midfielders to boost their attacking output.

Carragher concluded that Arsenal must prioritize midfield reinforcements to improve chance creation and unlock their attacking potential. He emphasized that signing a striker should not be the club’s number one objective this summer.
