Pundit Jamie Carragher believes Declan Rice’s talent is being underated as evidenced by his recent man-of-the-match display for Arsenal versus Manchester City.

Former Liverpool defender and football pundit, Jamie Carragher has praised Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice as being “vastly underrated” following his standout performance in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday. Carragher believes that Rice’s contributions often go unnoticed by critics who focus too much on goals and assists.

Rice was instrumental in Arsenal’s dominant display, registering two assists and playing a key role in the build-up to several goals. His vision and passing range were particularly highlighted by Carragher, who compared Rice’s all-round abilities to those of legendary midfielders like Roy Keane.

“Declan Rice is one of those type of all-round midfielders – a bit like Roy Keane,” Carragher said on Sky Sports. “He does a bit of everything, and his passing range is vastly underrated – you saw that with the pass for the fifth goal.”

Rice himself acknowledged the need for personal improvement after the match, stating, “I need to add goals and assists to my game if I’m going to keep playing in the No.8 position.”

Carragher’s praise for Rice comes as Arsenal continues to chase Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, with the Gunners now within six points of the leaders. Rice’s performance against City ľwas a reminder of his importance to the team and his potential to be a key player in Arsenal’s title challenge.
