Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher rejects the suggestion that Arsenal’s number one priority for the summer transfer window is to sign a new striker.

Former Liverpool defender and prominent football pundit Jamie Carragher has recently rejected the widely held belief that Arsenal’s primary goal for the summer transfer window should be to sign a new striker.

Speaking on Sky Sports‘ Monday Night Football, former Liverpool defender and football pundit Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s transfer priorities. Contrary to popular belief, Carragher dismissed the idea that signing a new striker should be Arsenal’s top priority for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Carragher’s comments come at a time when Arsenal has been linked with several high-profile strikers, including Alexander Isak and Ollie Watkins. Despite the Gunners’ interest in bolstering their attacking options, Carragher believes that the real issue lies elsewhere.

According to Carragher, Arsenal’s primary concern should be addressing their lack of creativity in the midfield. He pointed out that while current striker Kai Havertz may not be considered world-class, he performs well in his role and contributes significantly to the team’s overall play. Carragher emphasized that finding a striker who can both score goals and provide the same level of all-round play as Havertz would be a challenging task.

Carragher also highlighted the scarcity of top-quality strikers in the Premier League, citing examples such as Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez, Nicholas Jackson and Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund, who have struggled to meet expectations. He argued that Arsenal’s focus should instead be on signing more creative players to improve their chance creation and overall attacking threat.
