Jamie Carragher has caution Mikel Arteta that Arsenal transfer target Alexander Isak would ‘certainly’ prefer to join Liverpool if he were to leave Newcastle.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has expressed doubts over Arsenal’s chances of signing Alexander Isak, suggesting that the Newcastle striker would “surely” prefer a move to Liverpool if he were to leave the club. Isak has been in sensational form this season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions, and has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Arsenal.
Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports’ The Overlap, questioned the realism of Arsenal securing Isak’s signature, given the player’s current contract situation and the club’s recent struggles. “There’s almost this feeling like Arsenal are going to sign him or Arsenal need to sign him…are you looking at that as an Arsenal fan and thinking that’s realistic that you can just go and buy Isak from Newcastle?” Carragher said.
He further argued that Liverpool, who are on course to win the Premier League, would be a more attractive destination for Isak. “Liverpool need a striker as well, and if Liverpool win the league, if he was to go, surely you pick the team who’d won the league,” Carragher added.

Carragher’s comments highlight the challenges Arsenal may face in their pursuit of Isak, especially with other top clubs like Liverpool potentially in the mix. The Gunners will need to convince Isak and Newcastle of their ambitions and ability to compete at the highest level.
