Jakub Kiwior shares confusion over Arsenal exit as Porto loan move unfolds amid mixed signals and emotional goodbyes.
Jakub Kiwior has opened up about the confusion surrounding his loan move from Arsenal to FC Porto. The Polish defender shared how uncertainty during his final days at the club left both him and his team-mates unsure about what was happening.
Kiwior, 25, had been at Arsenal, often covering for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. With new signings like Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié, Arsenal allowed Kiwior to seek more playing time elsewhere. Although Napoli and AC Milan showed interest, FC Porto secured the deal with a season-long loan and an obligation to buy.
Confusion at Arsenal Training Ground
In an interview with O Jogo, Kiwior described how unclear the situation was. “In my last three days there, I didn’t know which would actually be my last,” he said. Despite reports confirming the deal, Kiwior continued training. His team-mates were surprised, asking why he was still in his kit when the transfer was supposedly complete.

Emotional Farewell to Team-Mates
Kiwior admitted that saying goodbye was difficult. “I refused to say goodbye because I still didn’t have any information,” he explained. Once the move was confirmed, he returned to the pitch to say farewell. Arsenal players and staff formed a tunnel to honor his departure, but not everyone he wanted to see was present. He later made phone calls to complete his goodbyes.
Now at FC Porto, Kiwior is preparing for his debut after the international break. He expressed excitement about joining the Portuguese club, calling it a “top-notch organisation.” He also looks forward to playing alongside fellow Polish international Jan Bednarek.
