Ian Wright Urges Arsenal to Keep Defensive Duo at All Costs

Arsenal Legend Ian Wright pleads with the club to retain their defensive duo, Saliba and Gabriel, calling them vital to future Premier League success.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged his former club to do everything possible to retain defensive duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães.

Wright spoke on the Arsecast podcast, praising the pair for their impact. He believes they are the reason Arsenal has regained its defensive strength. “We’ve got ‘One-nil to the Arsenal’ back because of that defence,” he said.

Gabriel recently signed a new contract. Saliba, however, is still attracting interest from top clubs like Real Madrid. Wright didn’t hold back. He said, “Pay them anything for them to stay for the rest of their careers here.”

Building a Legacy Like Adams and Bould

Wright compared Saliba and Gabriel to Arsenal legends Tony Adams and Steve Bould. He believes the current duo could become club icons. The only thing missing from their record is a Premier League title.

“These two could go down as two of the best ever centre halves,” Wright added. He also praised their leadership and influence in the dressing room.

Arteta’s Praise After United Win

After Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, manager Mikel Arteta praised the team’s spirit. “The way every single player reacted gives us the opportunity to win the game,” he said.

This victory highlights the importance of a solid defence. It also shows why Wright is so eager for Arsenal to secure Saliba and Gabriel long-term.

Arsenal is chasing the Premier League title. Keeping Saliba and Gabriel could be the key to success. Ian Wright’s message is clear: lock them down, no matter the cost.
