Ian Wright cautioned Arsenal’s management that failure to bolster the squad during the summer transfer window could result in key players, such as William Saliba, seeking to leave the club.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has issued a stark warning to the club’s management, suggesting that key players like William Saliba could push to leave if the Gunners fail to recruit well in the upcoming summer transfer window. Wright’s concerns come as Arsenal struggles to maintain their position in the Premier League, trailing behind Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal’s season has been marred by injuries to crucial players such as Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard. Despite these setbacks, the club did not make any significant signings during the January transfer window, leaving the squad thin and vulnerable. Wright expressed his frustration on his podcast, “Wrighty’s House,” questioning the club’s decision not to bring in reinforcements.
Wright highlighted the precarious contract situations of players like Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Saliba, all of whom are out of contract in 2027. He fears that these players might be reluctant to renew their contracts if the club does not show ambition in the transfer market. Recent reports have linked Saliba with a move to Real Madrid, further fueling concerns about his future at Arsenal.

Wright emphasized the importance of making ambitious moves in the summer transfer window to retain key players and compete at the highest level. He drew parallels with Liverpool’s situation, where star players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk are also nearing the end of their contracts. Wright believes that Arsenal must act decisively to avoid a similar predicament.
